How's life in iceland?
JohannesG
sweet
life's good. slowly finishing my thesis from previous uni. Started at another uni on computer science, (through the internetz), and just slowly getting comfy at my farm :3
and got this set up http://kollafoss.farm/
when should I expect you to come over? ;)
Lemtzas, Hirsch, and the rest of you all. When can I expect you to come over to Kollafoss Gamedev Residency. ( http://kollafoss.farm ) ;)
Madsy
JohannesG: Me coming over to Iceland? :o
I'm scared of the polar beers
Hirsch
"Currently our internet connection is via a 3G aerial, which is sufficient;"
sounds like one can only _survive_ there if one has a car
JohannesG
Hirsch: we are getting fiber this winter
Madsy: no polar bears here. Although we got polar beer http://cdn.beeradvocate.com/im/beers/50394.jpg
Hirsch: Supply runs to town and such are included in the price
My parents live on the next farm and have a car which I rent from them. (Because I rarely need it)
and concerning the current internet, 3G Aerial. It is a long range 3g antenna on top of the house, connected to a wifi router. I got a 100gb cap per month (with the option of getting I think 150 or 200gb if i remember correctly) giving me 6-7mb speed in total
Hirsch
JohannesG: how do you get your food then?
afk
JohannesG
Hirsch: uh, by car. :)
My parents on the next farm have 2 cars, and like you probably know, people only use a car a small percentage of the car's lifetime. The rest it is just sitting there idling.
So I rent my parent's car maybe 1 or 2 times per week for supply runs and such
Hirsch
k
JohannesG
Hirsch: we might be getting our own car next year, but so far it's not really needed as food supply runs pretty much are only needed once a week.
or even less often if we plan things accordingly. Also, been considering getting a proper freezer so that we can store more food long term
