hi
Precious_Stone
hi
anybody here vietnam?
neurosys
lazedo: updated FS = winner!
mrgab__
hi neurosys, can i ask you what version of FS do you have now?
neurosys
mrgab__: you can ask... :P
mrgab__
neurosys: what version of FS do you have now? :P
neurosys
mrgab__: 1.4.15-2 from the staging repo. But i als know it works back to 1.4.11
mrgab__
ah ok, i'm running 1.4.7 actually
thanks for the info
neurosys
mrgab__: thats what i was running
mrgab__
why did you go to 1.4.15-2?
neurosys
mrgab__: to support fast park
mrgab__
i'm asking because i'm having quality issue
ah ok good
neurosys
mrgab__: qhat kind of quality issues?
mrgab__
my customers have both ip deskphone and apps
Since on mobile i have to use g729, do you know if it is possible to avoid transcoding in this scenario?:
Alice calls Kazoo offering PMCA, G729. Kazoo play a media in PMCA and then bridge the call to Bob that offer G729
i saw that in this case we have PMCA to G729 transcoding, and i'm wondering if it is possible to re-negotiate codec in a way to use G729. Thanks in advance
i tried renegotiate-codec-on-reinvite with no success
stormqloud_
mrgab__: I don;t think that scenario will work
another way to solve this in pre-kazoo asterisk/freeswitch is pre convert your media
ie keep it on disk already in the right codec, then there is no transcoding of audio message and the call can stay in whatever format you need
mrgab__
stormqloud_ hi, how are you? i have a web application that offers a control panel to my customers. is it possible to upload in g729 format via api? thanks
stormqloud_
not as far as I know
you would have to add support to kazoo to get this working
kazoo as far as I know only does it in 1 audio format and then must codec convert
mrgab__
yes i think so too
stormqloud_
freeswitch/asterisk when they select the file to be played natively will see if audio alreay exists in that format
but this will not happen inside kazoo
your best bet is just support codec conversion
mrgab__
a problem is that i have scenarios in which i can use g711, and other scenarios in which it's better to use g729. so that's why i'm thinking about a way to change codecs during the call while bridging to a device
stormqloud_
get a codec conversion card
mrgab__
yes, infact i was thinking about octasic card to do opus or g729 to g711 transconding
stormqloud_
i use sangoma card
mrgab__
but they are quite expensive. can you suggest me some other conversion cards?
good, let me see costs. do you use it for g711 to g729 conversion?
stormqloud_ can i ask you what sangoma card you use? (D100,D150,D500)
stormqloud_
I use d100
but it's all the same stuff
it's ethernet based the device
it fits in your serer as a pci card
bu treally it's detected as a ethernet card by your server
and you map a /24 onto it
so really it doesn;t need to be in a serer at all, which is why they sell the d150, which just has the ethernet and power onboard
the card becomes a resource you can use on your local network
shared by many servers
I've been using sangoma card of various types for 10 years at least.
mrgab__
so you have a dedicated machine for transcoding right?
stormqloud_
PRI/T1 cards I used a lot before
no I put the card in one of my freeswitch servers
then all my freeswitch servers can use it
in that data center
mrgab__
oh that's good to know
actually i have 2 fs
stormqloud_
if you had like 4000 sessions a dedicated server would be better tho
well you also need 2 cards
for redundancy
mrgab__
yes infact
how many calls do you handle with d100? i read 30-400
stormqloud_
y depends on the license you buy
to upgrade the license, I ship it back, they reflash with higher number and ship it back
or do advanced replacement etc
it's the same card
it's all in the hardware, it's jsut a question of buying the license for the # of channels simutaneous you need
if a call is not transcoded the card will not see it
mrgab__
the pricing for license are like mod_com_g729?
stormqloud_
g729 generally has license fee somewhere
Lawyers have been suing over g729 for decades
anything that is sold has a proce per channel for g729, otherwise tyou get sued
and they have to pay the lawyers also of course
mrgab__
sorry i didn't understand where to put license in this case, in fs machine or card?
stormqloud_
license is on the card itself
you buy a D100 with 100 cahnenls
or a D100 with 400 channels
then you use what is there
mrgab__
aah okok
stormqloud_
if you want to go from a D100 100 channel to D100 400 channel
they will let you upgrade your card by sending it back
they will not just charge you for a new 400
they will sell you a license upgrade from 100 to 400
ie cheaper
and they swap the card out
because the card has a license on it somehow
the card is simple to use, there are instructions to use it with freeswitch, sangoma supports freeswitch as a project
along with lots of other open source stuff
mrgab__
great, thanks a lot stormqloud_. i asked for a quote, do you know more or less the price for d100 with 100 channels?
stormqloud_
no idea
mrgab__
i think the best codec for mobile is opus
stormqloud_
cheap compared to support time
mrgab__
but octasic cards are very expensive
there isn't an entry level card for beginners
stormqloud_
i've had the cards for years
I was one of the first clients for the D100
mrgab__
actually i have only 100 pbx customers so i was looking for a starting solution :)
stormqloud_
I think the lowest end card is like $500-700 USD
google it
you can also buy some g729 software license
if you only need a few channels
