It'd be awesome if these vendors standardised tempaltes
templates*
saratogga
so you like the overall UI and design that the business end-users will be using under the 2600hz setup?
tyk
Yeh I do I think it looks really professional
saratogga
do you bill your customers per-seat?
tyk
Yes we will be
saratogga
with "unlimited minutes" and such as part of the plan?
tyk
We don't do unlimited
saratogga
here mostly all providers sell each user/seat with "unlimited minutes" but the hard cap is usually around 3000 minutes per month per seat
but calls are cheap
tyk
What is your wholesale fixed to cell rate?
saratogga
calls to cells are in the range of $0.0005 per minute
I don't do fixed rate for termination
it's all based on area codes and rate centers
but minutes are so damn cheap
tyk
ohh okay
0.05 cents per minute for mobiles here
saratogga
inbound I'm seeing 0.004 per minute flat if I don't opt for channel-based pricing
here I want to be more into transparency. Be upfront about everything. Not sell it as "unlimited minutes" when in fact there is always a limit
do you bill them per minute for usage?
or they can choose from different packages?
tyk
its all billed per minute
except for 13/1300
Local and National Calls
flat 10 cents
saratogga
what do you charge them for calls to the US?
or is that barely used anyway?
tyk
cheap i think its 2.5 cents per minute
saratogga
lol
cheap is relative I guess
tyk
everything here is double the US
saratogga
what do you get Australia DIDs for?
tyk
even Petrol
30 cents each / $30.00 for 100
saratogga
just use a US-based termination provider, no?
tyk
Nah hah too much latency
saratogga
oh see that's cheap
some US termination providers will put you on a pretty close gateway
do the DIDs support SMS?
for the DIDs do you pay flat rate per minute or do you point them all to a pool of channels you pay monthly for?
tyk
hmmm
so we buy channels in blocks of 50
They're $2.00 each
saratogga
holy sh*t
talk about cheap!
tyk
DIDs you buy in blocks of 100 for $30.00
saratogga
here you're lucky to find channels for $12
unless you have large volume right away
do the DIDs/channels support T.38?
tyk
Oh really
Wow thats so expensive
Yes of course
saratogga
but no way to get SMS on them right?
tyk
G.711a/u T38
You wouldn't bother lol nobody uses it
saratogga
how come?
tyk
Not sure
Everything is email now
saratogga
where is a good place to get wholesale DIDs/channels in Australia?
tyk
AAPT or Symbio
or DIDLogic I think they're doing Aussie now
saratogga
do you need local telecom/wholesale licenses and such to do business with them?
tyk
Yes you need to be registered with the TIO
https://www.tio.com.au/
saratogga
is it a difficult process?
tyk
No just a bit of paperwork. You need to have Australian Company but
saratogga
ok
but can I as a US company go out and buy the DIDs and channels from someone like you?
tyk
Yeh we can do that
saratogga
interesting
tyk
brb
saratogga
do your clients ask for US numbers?
https://github.com/urueedi/monster-ui-voip - are the screenshots here what 2600hz-based PBX looks like to the end business user?
damn internet again
Is 2600hz's hosted service running on Rackspace?
mc_
saratogga: mixture of own hardware and hosted vms
saratogga
mc_: I want to start a business voip provider (basically a RingCentral/Nextiva competitor). How would pricing work on your platform if we go with the hosted version? Do we pay per seat?
The idea is to have it 100% white labeled
mc_
saratogga: yeah, that's definitely the use case we support on the hosted platform
you'd have to contact sales@2600hz.com for details
i'm just a lowly engineer
:)
saratogga
:)
then can you please spend the rest of the day porting the whole codebase from Erlang to Python? thanks!
:)
mc_
saratogga: and cripple it? ;)
saratogga
ok, fine, use Go
mc_
getting worse
haha
saratogga
lol
mc_
if j4m3s can learn erlang, anyone can
saratogga
