I don;t think it's in kazoo

that's the freeswitch but that is needed
but I don;t see any mention of that inside kazoo
bazyar
Well, let's say I am monitoring ext 100 - 105
I hit that button, it's going to basically barge in and take over that call right?
So wouldn't the phone need to send a SIP message to Kazoo saying, hey, give me this call and bridge it over to me ?
stormqloud
the FreeSWITCH developers have implemented the Broadsoft method of handling
bazyar
oh, hmmm
stormqloud
whatever that means. best to read the broadsoft stuff
bazyar
So that is in the freeswitch config ?
stormqloud
yes
google shared line appearances freeswitch
bazyar
ok great, I will check that out
thanks!!
stormqloud
You should probably try to get it working under a manual freeswitch/asterisk
so it understandable
then you can look at where kazoo doesn;t do the right thing
bazyar
oh is this something that is not currently supported in a Kazoo environment?
stormqloud
I see it inside freeswitch but I cannot find a mention of it in Kazoo.
lets put it this way, if freeswitch doesn;t support it there there is no change kazoo can do it
bazyar
Sure
stormqloud
since freeswitch can do it, it's possible probably to extend kazoo but I dont; think support exists
but really I'm in over my head on shared line appearances on Kazoo. I've not tried it
bazyar
well this info gets me pointed in the right direction, greatly reduces the search space I have to look at :)
stormqloud
you would need to figure out how different sip_profiles in kazoo work
right now I think Kazoo only has 1 sip_profiles so it might not work
but again I'm at the edges of my knowledge without doing lots of digging
stormqloud_
"SCA allows you to have multiple phones register to the same extension and then use the line key on the handset to barge into a live call at any point."
fseesink
stormqloud: Isnt that from deprecated docs? I Googled that and hit on the old docs.
stormqloud
you mean the freeswitch docs?
the "locked wiki"?
fseesink
yeah.
stormqloud
y it is old, but the new stuff isn;t complete
support is the same tho I think.

Starting from www.freeswitch.org and working into docs, searched on shared call appearance and hit this page: https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Holding+Bin
which at least indicates When using SCA, all phones must support the codec of the original phone call on which you're barging in.
stormqloud
I think you'd need to try the stuff under freeswitch without kazoo
just to get a feel for how it works
the problem will be https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/2600hz-dev/hYWOQfjzITY
you will have trouble gettign the feature on some but not all of the system
fseesink
And my understanding of Kazoos current architecture is that FreeSWITCH is only used for media conversion. They use Kamailio as the SIP server. So whether FreeSWITCH supports it or not may be irrelevant.
stormqloud
kamaillio passes the sip packet to freeswitch
freeswitch still see SIP
It's ust that Kamailio *can* modify the SIP packets and direct them beforehand
but calls arrive at freeswithc as SIP calls
then the dialplan is generated by kazoo
freeswitch does more then media conversion. It bridges the calls, provides nat transversal etc
virtually all the "features" of kazoo are implemented in different type of freeswithc dialplans
fseesink
Ah. Just remember seeing this recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aKj5QbSeiY , starting about 29 seconds into video.
hence why I thought that.
stormqloud
kazoo is a media server
ie all media goes through it
bazyar
I forgot to ask James A about this when I was in San Francisco a few weeks ago for the training
stormqloud
hmm, I was there also
what desk were you at?
fseesink
Thats a class I wish I couldve attended. Then again, wish I couldve been at Cluecon this week. So far Ive never been able to get the timing right.
And next Kazoo training is same week I have another conference to attend. *sigh*
stormqloud
when a call comes into Kamailio it uses dispatcher module to select a freeswitch server
then it passes the call there directly
freeswitch puts the call into "park"
and then goes off to ecallmgr to fetch a valid dialplan
the dialplan is generated from the callflow that is needed
this is all freeswitch<->ecallmgr
this what james explained at the training
These was some discussion at the training if you remmeber about a way to transfer a call from your cellphone to a deskphone without the client knowing
also calls to the carriers also come from freeswitch directly port 11000 for example
not from kamailio (tho it could )
Kamailio job is to distribute the front end load and to keep the IP's for the phones registered available
and presance
which will be part of SLA for sure
voip
:>
bazyar
stormqloud - are you the gentleman from Montreal?
stormqloud
yes
bazyar
oh, hi, I'm the guy from Denver you had lunch with a couple times :)
stormqloud
hey!
the SLA thing is gonna be hard
bazyar
My customer is just adventurous enough, they downloaded the grandstream manuals and see Shared Line Appearance supported.
Then they're like, "why doesn't this work?!?!"
hey back atcha! :)
yes, that seamless switch from mobile to desk and back could be done with SLA
In fact that is another use case on my road map
stormqloud
from my memory that was the "fast pickup" and the metaflows stuff
and then the konami modules
bazyar
My memory around that is very fuzzy
stormqloud
https://github.com/2600hz/kazoo/blob/master/applications/konami/doc/move.md
that seems like it kinda does what you want?
all so they call yell "bob, it's line 1 for you"
I'm not played with konami yet but it's on my list
bazyar
that might work..
that's in-call dtmf detection so it could be like a * code
so on one hand I'd have blfs to show people which extensions are on calls, then you could say hit *41 to pick up ext 1 or *44 to pick up ext 4
stormqloud
y the line sharing and the light blinking are done differently
seesm like a reasonable strategy to try
bazyar
I will give it some thought. Good idea!
Do you have customers that use the Page Group feature?
saratogga
Has anyone here tried the white label PBX solution from Coredial?
