stormqloud_
you better know what oyu are doing
jde_
LOL
stormqloud_
then this wil be no issue for you
jde_
to be perfectly honest my overall experience with PRI is somewhat limited. I only worked there for 2 years
and once I got the PRI working I never thought about it again
stormqloud_
make sure you get the right cable
it's not "auto detect" like eithernet
you need exactly the right calbe for what you are trying to do
jde_
it was 4 ports, with 2 of the ports having a D channel, one main one failover. I remember having a bi**h of a time getting the configuration in zaptel correct
stormqloud_
yes, that would be correct. I have patches into Digium in like 2002 for T1 riming issues
jde_
oh so you go back a ways as well, lol
stormqloud_
in general you want a D channel per PRI
that makes life easier with asterisk and the pri to sip conversion
jde_
yeah, but my bosses wanted to maximize voice channels but were only willing to pay for a single 4 port card
stormqloud_
this is the call center world in a nutshell really isn;t it
jde_
it wasnt exactly a super successful call center.... so yeah. Give us everything Mr IT man, just don't make us pay for it
stormqloud_
The guy pulls up in a ferrari and then demands that you waste 8 hours to save $5
jde_
yep
that was basically my life until I finally decided to be my own boss
ridiculous demands are more tolerable when they are coming from myself, lol
stormqloud_
I have done a lot of this work myself
work is work!
jde_
yeah
I guess at this point my customers are my boss, more or less
stormqloud_
yes that's a good way to look at it
jde_
still, they'll have a lot harder time firing me if I tell one of them to go take a hike, LOL
stormqloud_
your clients are also deserving of more respect then the call center guys
jde_
usually yeah
Ive had a couple who I would mind keeping a great distance between myself and them
wouldn't mind*
stormqloud_
call centers have all gone "pverseas" as far as I know
jde_
yeah the only call centers I see around here anymore are very fly-by-night and scammy-smelling
but business is business
stormqloud_
there used to be crazy numbers of call centers 5 years agi
but now I don;t see as many
jde_
yeah. Whatever made them disappear, I'm glad for it.
stormqloud_
All these places play off legal juristrictions
jde_
Call center culture was soul-sucking, even for me, who wasn't manning a phone all day
yeah I had one customer who incurred the wrath of my state's AG
stormqloud_
y it's brutal, totally agree
jde_
so what did they do? They moved JUST across the border to the neighboring state
stormqloud_
I had a pile of AG letters
except I'm in a neigbouring country
jde_
canada? lol
stormqloud_
yup
so many scammers for a few years
now they all moved offshore again, none left here
jde_
yeah. All the scam-centers that were in my city are basically gone
there's only one left as far as I know and they actually mostly do legit business, it's just the owners that are shady
stormqloud_
I donlt know about the USA, but in canada all the call centers now are using random caller id
jde_
like... I'm pretty sure they are associated with drug cartels shady, lol
stormqloud_
If your number is 1-212-555-6666
jde_
gotta launder that dirty cash
ew caller ID fakers
stormqloud_
your marketerks will alwys call from 1-212-555-7777
this is 99% of the calls in canada now
jde_
I remember a CLEC upstate from me specifically offering that service to callcenters
stormqloud_
fake caller id
scams to get people credit cards etc
jde_
except they could only get it as good as the same area code, because if the customer dialed that number back it would actually go to the callcenter
so not really a fake caller ID per se
but still shady
stormqloud_
not in canada, you can 1005 set the destination number here
It's not like USA and CNAM
jde_
I see
stormqloud_
we pass the caller id name AND number in the SIP
and the carriers pass it on
so it's fraud like crazy
jde_
on the one hand, I want that
on the other hand, I don't want that
the caller id name being controllable via SIP headers I mean
stormqloud_
seruously, it's til sh*t's and gilles up here calling with caller id name and number of the white house
the interesting thing of course is that the USA carriers take the Canadaian carriers at their word..
so setting caller id into the USA is trivial as well from Caanada
name is a different matter
jde_
I can set whatever number I want as well
I once accidentally set the outbound caller ID of my desk phone to "5"
somehow
dont remember how
and thats what people saw. I think it may have only worked on cell phones though
stormqloud_
y it
carrier by carrier basis
jde_
yeah
stormqloud_
cell carriers are mean up here. They won;t pass caller id number to a toll free for example
they managed to block that to preven tpeople from calling 800 "dial around" long distance serive when they charged $2.50 per min
anyway, I'm off to bed.
jde_
me too
goodnight
osryan
thanks jde_ but when i go into a subaccount, the option to add numbers isnt even there. it only shows buy, port and delete.
looks like i figured out my issue. have to have a + sign in front of the number.
whenry__
what is the best wy to get CDRs to antoher machine? Do I have to use a webhook, THEN call back to the machine via api to get the CDR?
stormqloud_
you cn export cdr
with a api call
ie export the last week etc
whenry__
The export seems to be too slow, I get nearly 10 calls a second on the system
I wasa hoping to do something realtime when the call ends
via channel destroy
even to export just a day seems to take a really really long time
stormqloud_
there is a ruby module to pick the cdr out of amqp
that would give oyu realtime cdr
