whenry__
now we are talking!
hmmhesays
realtime cdr is scary, semi-realtime seems much more manageable
stormqloud_
better to export realtime if his billing system requires etc
whenry
ah, yes, okay thank you!
pyite
neurosys: what have you done
!@#$
lol
neurosys
pyite: fu*k
pyite
did you not pay your bill or something
neurosys
pyite: I dont believe so
pyite: I have no emails or calls to that
But i cannot get a soul on the phone there!
pyite: should be back up now..
pyite: fu*k.
pyite
neurosys: lol my comcast went down
ugh
neurosys
pyite: Love that Commiecast
pyite
appears comcast decided to push a new config to my modem
so it rebooted
neurosys
pyite: They're fun like that
pyite
uh huh
neurosys
pyite: meanwhile.. i got upgraded at DYN. and apparently they discoonected the "old account" but was really the current one. :(
jde_
are there any known gotchas or quirks with regards to upgrading from 3.20 to 3.21? I didnt see any in the release notes, just wondering if anyone else ran into anything.
neurosys
jde_: pyite will come to your house and read you random wikipedia articles. That's in the features section. ;)
pyite
lol
jde_: quirks are usually discovered after the upgrade :)
since we just started upgrading people, none known yet
(though we made it through monday)
jde_
ok. I'll hold on for a few more days then
bongfrog
jde_: We have 3.21-21 running on our number two cluster and have not see issues as of yet. While not technically production it sees a bit of traffic
jde_
thanks for the info. I'll upgrade to it on my dev vms and run them for a few days on our office phones and see what happens
neurosys
pyite: whats your threshhold for 3.21 on session timers?
pyite
huh?
neurosys
pyite: you made you min on reg timers 360 right?
what about subscription timers?
pyite
i think so but we still acecpt them shorter then that
hmmhesays
did the single server install script disappear?
I can't remember exactly where that was
nm found it
I've rebooted this single server instance that runs fine after install but now I'm getting Crash dump was written to: erl_crash.dump
init terminating in do_boot ()
trying to start rabbit-mq
ahh hostname not set properly
saratogga
the great kazoo adventures...
hmmhesays: what did you end up doing with the carrier modules?
hmmhesays
saratogga, nothing yet, plan for now is to not use monster
saratogga
hmmhesays: and build your own custom UI?
hmmhesays
no, I'll use kazoo-ui
saratogga
ok
hmmhesays: will end-users be logging in to the kazoo-ui to self-manage their service?
hmmhesays
saratogga, most likely not at this point
agents login only to start
saratogga
hmmhesays: what are you doing for auto-provisioning of devices?
hmmhesays
I have my own stuff for provisioning.
saratogga
hmmhesays: do you know about https://phonism.com/ ?
hmmhesays
they come from our vendor pointed at our provisioning server
saratogga
from the wholesale vendor?
hmmhesays
yes
from there it's not hard, just end user to reboot if we change something.
saratogga
right that's always the easiest
hmmhesays
We're limiting ourselves to polycom's to start off this project so that helps also
saratogga
what wholesale vendor do you recommend?
hmmhesays
I would have to look up who we're using. That's my partners job
saratogga
ok no biggie
you going to astricon usually?
stormqloud_
why would you goto astricon after using kazoo
saratogga
stormqloud: I do voip consulting other than building my own product, and if my last few consulting clients are any indication there's a coming exodus of companies moving away from asterisk/freepbx. I think 2016 will see more of that
stormqloud_
yup they are leaving
I ws at astricon for many years including last year
the message at astricon is
"cloud will be hosted by us"
"you will all become our resellers"
I used to do a ton of asterisk consulting, custom work. Almost zero nowadays
saratogga
I think so many companies out there are stuck with freepbx and are easy pickings for a relatively painless switch
stormqloud: what are you up to nowadays?
stormqloud_
I have some scripts I wrote to import clients from freeswitch to kazoo
to haddle the work of setting up extensions, voicemails etc
saratogga
I don't do asterisk consulting, unless it involves moving away from it :)
stormqloud_
y well that's my opinion now also
last year was my last year at astricon
saratogga
I'm going to be in Florida around that time so I think I'll go
stormqloud_
the technology isn;t at eh asteriskcon show as much anymore
saratogga
what made you stop doing consulting work?
stormqloud_
now it's all selling voip handsets, embedded asterisk boxes etc
I do lots of consulting
just few to none in asterisk anymore
saratogga
oh gotcha
stormqloud_
the AGI stuff is easy to work with
saratogga
i'm redoing my consulting website, man writing copy is hard
stormqloud_
yes, it sux
saratogga
stormqloud: so you mainly do kazoo implementations for clients nowadays?
as far as PBXs go
stormqloud_
I'm trying to do only kazoo now yes
freeswitch, kamailio etc
Except for a very few specific set of use cases kazoo is able to replace freeswithc in most installs
saratogga
you use monster-ui?
stormqloud_
The thing you have found, as everyone in this industry, the client usually tires of managing the pbx themselves
saratogga
I think that's because existing tools make it so damn difficult
stormqloud_
I agree and disagree.
saratogga
and people are intimidated by having to manage devices and phone service in general... It's because of years of abuse by legacy telcos
