Evil_Bob
i only have some reasonable standard TP-link router + gigabit switch
atmc
Evil_Bob: do you want an APU1c
runs openbsd
stateless
Evil_Bob, router is openbsd
nas is dragonfly
atmc
Evil_Bob: no mucho dinero
stateless: did you read http://www.tedunangst.com/flak/post/finding-bugs-in-tarsnap
stateless
Evil_Bob, my router runs, dhcpd, miniupnpd, dnscrypt-proxy, unbound, vnstatd, ntpd, rtadvd, httpd, sshd, tftpd for pxeboot
lol
atmc, yes
and it has two serial ports
which is awesome because I can capture crashes on the other machines
Evil_Bob
cool :)
stateless
Evil_Bob, check out edge router lite
mips based
openbsd runs on it
cheaper than apu
atmc
but doesnt support the network cards yet afaik :P
stateless
but probably less reliable at this point
it does
and it also boots from the internal usb storage
\cipher
WHO SAID OPENBSD?!?
whaddup
stateless
sup \cipher
\cipher
hey stateless
atmc
Evil_Bob: as i said i have a cheap apu1c around if you want one
stateless
how much are you giving it for?
the apu is quite good
do you also have the case?
(i don't want it, i have enough routers, just wondering)
\cipher
apu is very nice indeed
stateless
Evil_Bob, dude you need a router
:P
atmc
APU1c board + proper cooling mechanism (passive) + case + flash memory -> 60eur
its just sitting on my desk
AC adapter
Evil_Bob
hah looking at it now, looks very nice
atmc: where do you live?
atmc
.DE
i look up shipping wait
Evil_Bob
ah nice
atmc
+ 15eur
Evil_Bob: if you want i also have Serial->USB and nullmodem adapter
Evil_Bob
hm, lemme check the specs for a bit :)
stateless
my router is a fu*king beast, it can saturate 1gbit links with NAT
so will be good for many many years
if you ever get gbit fiber (next 5 years) the apu will be a bottleneck :P
i mean for a home setup it is a beast, not corporate
atmc
haha yes
network throughput is pretty good
Evil_Bob
hmm wifi is max 54mbps?
(i dont use wifi, but other roommates do)
stateless
Evil_Bob, u need separate wifi ap
some linux based appliance
openbsd is only 54mbps
atmc
Evil_Bob: you could get a wifi adapter
stateless
you can turn your existing router/wifi ap into just ap mode
atmc
http://www.pcengines.ch/wle200nx.htm
stateless
atmc, not a good idea
atmc
so you have wifi in the same box
stateless: security wise?
stateless
no just that openbsd doesn't support 802.11n
so your speeds will be limited
atmc
oh ok, i just use 54mbps
stateless
well I have 802.11n and I get 80mbps
.. lol
atmc
:D
see
stateless
I use my old router in wifi ap mode
atmc
my dad has a tplink router and he can push his 100mbit line
stateless
it is an asus rt-n66u
Evil_Bob
any reason it doesnt support it yet ?
stateless
Evil_Bob, no one worked on it
atmc
Evil_Bob: nobody wrote code yet
do it
:D
stateless
it is a lot of work though :P
Evil_Bob
lol, i ... cant :)
stateless
atmc, over wifi?
Evil_Bob
anyway, i dont really like wi-fi and for me 54mbps is not an issue :)
stateless
well mine can do like 900mbps in theory
but that's marketing bs
:P
Evil_Bob
hah wow
stateless
Evil_Bob, then you are fine
get the adapter card
:)
Evil_Bob
my tp-link supposedly can do 300mbps
stateless
I like to have separate boxes
I follow the unix principle
if my router is down
Evil_Bob
the signal is amazing though for its price (tp-link)
stateless
I can still ssh into my lan over wifi
;)
or I can ssh into a box that monitors the router over serial
and fix it from my bed
eat that
Evil_Bob
loool
stateless
:P
Evil_Bob, what do you run on the tp-link?
