Even Brazilia is more far away.

FRIGN
yo stateless
did you get a mail by Alan Pillay by any chance?
retard
look at the flick of the wrist
__20h__
How do I fu*king answer a fu*king web interface mail?
Send me the original so I can reply.
FRIGN, that alpine guy asked me too.
I don't even get the mail id so I could construct an answer.
FRIGN
__20h__ no idea man. this is fu*ked up
__20h__
I'm just posting on the mailinglist.
FRIGN
I replied to him privately and sent a mail to the alpine-ml, hoping it would fu*king arrive
:P
okay, thanks! :)
don't forget to include nldev and nlmon in your response
They probably could be deal-breakers :D
retard
feeling a little stoked that debian is switching back to ffmpeg
__20h__
retard, Gentoo did it too.
FRIGN, no, I'm arguing for smdev.
retard
i didn't even know gentoo went libav at some point
__20h__
FRIGN, smdev was always what I imagined for the KISS end solution to this device driver crap.
But it didn't implement the full mdev.conf syntax.
I've written the rest in my e-mail.
Let's see when it appears.
http://r-36.net/p/p-HjRfqer6IAL.txt
FRIGN
okay
gonna read it later :D
Evil_Bob
hmm is a mdev.conf file really needed? maybe my needs are too simple but the default smdev config.h works fine for me
Godfath3r
ffmpeg is considered more active on fixing bug/issues. That's why debian/gentoo switched to it
retard
no sh*t
Godfath3r
true story :P

libav vs ffmpeg respectively
retard
libav fork was retarded in the first place
only reason any distros went with it was shill packagers
__20h__
Evil_Bob, config.h in this case is not compatible to the mass market.
And with mdev.conf much work can be reused from busybox.
The /dev tree is really complex with its conventions.
FRIGN
__20h__ I agree with you here. We can't always go 100%
smdev + mdev.conf is better than the normal udev
I mean, we know that config.h makes more sense, but to be real, most people have no clue how this sh*t works ^^
and in the end, making people use suckless software with a bit of suckfull extensions is a good compromise.
