on dfly
somewhere
that shows the unix family tree
let me find it
tm512
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/77/Unix_history-simple.svg is from wiki
stateless
it is a text file in base
/usr/share/misc/bsd-family-tree
for bsd though
http://sprunge.us/SZdj
freebsd has it too
so they started with v6
tm512
I want to be making a somewhat UNIX-like OS but I want to have some originality and improvements rather than being totally hung up on legacy cruft
Evil_Bob
stateless: ah host key was changed (2f30 git) :P
http://git.2f30.org/divzeroweb/commit/?id=eea0af0b03d534879fe70a16cd18c5392909ada0
k0ga
tm512: then rewrite plan9
tm512
I will probably just end up porting other software to run on top of my kernel and that'd make what I said pretty irrelevant in the end
like musl, sbase
stateless
tm512, also somebody told me you can download the source of xenos (probably under a fu*ked license)
Evil_Bob, yeah moved to another server
tm512, musl will require a pretty faithful subset of the linux abi
also check out the bare bones musl stuff
he has written a kernel that can run musl and sbase
or some tools from sbase
tm512, http://ellcc.org/viewvc/svn/ellcc/trunk/libecc/src/elk/
tm512
well I was considering porting musl
I'm not really supporting the Linux ABI because I'm not going to have syscalls in the traditional sense, the syscall is just going to inform the kernel to route a message
I gotta get to bed. busy day tomorrow
gnight
retard
11:27 < tm512> I gotta get to bed. busy day tomorrow
fu*kn timezones
how do they work
stateless
tm512, heh the fbsd handbook is 800 pages
:P
that's not even a handbook
I need to go to the gym asap
retard
who remembers this
http://www.tcocd.de/Pictures/Peripheral/Genius/gmf302.shtml
Evil_Bob
mmm yea i remember cleaning my balls
playing quake with a ball mouse, lol, good ol' times
retard
how about this scanner sh*t

retard, lol
Evil_Bob
bah youtube's RSS feed is bugged, it keeps bumping the timestamps (probably when someone likes a video or w/e)
retard
:(
fuk u goog
__20h__
Evil_Bob, yes, timestamp bumping is a disease.
I've never called it like that.
retard, timezones were introduced so there's less peak usage in the morning on the water system.
Evil_Bob
it uses to work fine, but a few months ago they changed the RSS feed (and its urls)
__20h__
Now with people only bathing once a week there's no actual need for them anymore.
retard
__20h__ i knew they were a conspiracy
Evil_Bob
the "updated" timestamp should only be bumped when there is a change that is significant (like a content change)
retard
JET BEAMS CAN'T MELT STEEL FUELS
Evil_Bob
now its basicly useless to keep track of changes
__20h__
Evil_Bob, it's like adapting to malformed MIME: Change your algorithm for what's updated.
retard
GEORGE BUSH DID THE MOONLANDING
__20h__
retard, how did you find out?
Evil_Bob
__20h__: i guess, but it was useful to see updated news articles for example. But i shouldnt be surprised, its the web
__20h__
Evil_Bob, RSS didn't die yet because there's no alternative.
retard
they buried it anyway
Evil_Bob
yes, RSS/Atom is not suckless ofcourse, but its much better than watching crappy custom webpages
__20h__
Yes, I've started to implement RSS-producing web filters.
Evil_Bob
cool, sauce url?
__20h__
Evil_Bob, I haven't yet completed all my atom-* tools.
http://r-36.net/tmp/mediumcom2atom
This is the script I use like this: mediumcom2atom "https://medium.com/starts-with-a-bang" > $HOME/atom/swb.atom
I have $HOME/atom, where there's a runatom.sh, which runs all scripts which begin with rss-* in $HOME/atom
Then add file://.../swb.atom to your RSS reader.
I'm using zeitungsschau: http://git.r-36.net/zs/
It's an RSS 2 E-Mail converter.
Adding a new converter/filter is just adding a new rss-* file. Cron is already running runatom.sh.
It's run every night.
44 07/30/2015 04:00 /home/chrissi/atom/runatom.sh
I love fcron.
retard
you don't use systemd .timer-files?
i'm shocked
__20h__
retard, I don't like running cron jobs in my init system.
retard
it only does everything
k0ga
the other day a guy here put a nfs entry in the fstab
with automounting at boot
when he tried boot without the network systemd aborted the boot process
Evil_Bob
__20h__: i also have a local uncommitted format program which converts feeds to mbox/maildir
cool idea btw, html to rss/atom
the technologies involved are sucking though ofcourse (xpath)
stateless
k0ga, classic failure
never had this issue on bsd
k0ga
yeah
but it is so stupid ...
__20h__
Evil_Bob, xpath is the easiest way to get through the XML tree.
XPath is the regexp of the web. Without replacing the web we have to get used to it.
Evil_Bob, I can't use mbox/maildir, dovecot uses mdbox.
Evil_Bob
__20h__: yeah its not set in stone how i'll implement it yet, but it should be trivial
lol what a mess https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_time_zone_abbreviations
note the non-unique abbreviations, just use UTC+offset :|
