dsockwell
this makes sense only if your application requires x86
and in that case you should consider a NUC
retard
so it's an x86 raspberry pi
dsockwell
more or less yeah
FRIGN
biniar: lol, I used to make a guy at work jealous when I showed him how I mount FTP-servers in Nautilus
and he was like: woah, you don't need a FTP-client? ^^
well, I didn't tell him how broken FUSE-FTP-mounts are
He probably tries learning Linux since 2012 just to mount some broken FTP-Server in his File manager
dude, Evil_Bob:
I honestly had to think for a while to get the joke with Forrest Gump
Evil_Bob
hah yea same, it gets more and more obvious each picture ofcourse :)
atmc
Evil_Bob: we should Go together
Evil_Bob
:)
atmc: what are you coding?
atmc
i'm just doing my python/C stuff for my thesis atm
but i'd like something goie
Evil_Bob
i have no ideas for projects tbh :)
i'll reinstall netbsd on my rpi soonish i think, its biting dust atm
k0ga
atmc: what is about your thesis?
atmc
i'm doing controly theory on the stokes equation
in fact i'm doing: Flatness based trajectory planning for the 3D Stokes-equations
FRIGN
atmc: this is easy. give me 5 minutes and I'll prove that a solution exists with proper boundary conditions.
atmc
:)
First step to a solution is to prove that a solution exists :)
FRIGN
exactly
I know a guy who writes his thesis on solutions for the Schrödinger-equations and found out that the way he thought out is impossible to calculate
so he spends the rest of his time proving in his thesis that the solution is insolvable
he told me: "well, it's possible, but once I've published it, nobody's gonna read it :P"
poor guy
k0ga
in fact, nobody read it in any way
atmc
k0ga: i was really thankful for some absurd thesis topics ppl have done
one was done on just calculating eigenvalues from both sides of the matrix. everybody knows that this works but no one benchmarked the algorithms he used
FRIGN
lol
that's smart
atmc
yea, two sided eigenproblem solvers are the base for orthogonal projection
FRIGN
hey atmc, stop nerding around :P
atmc
so you can project a 10k degree system onto a lets say 64 degree subspace
FRIGN
we know you are better than most guys here on this stuff
atmc
FRIGN: i just wanted to explain that to you a bit
FRIGN
atmc: I am not good at terminology
I am more or less the notation-guy, you know? ;)
atmc
i bet you beat me in algebra and analysis
FRIGN
I think so as well, but you are the guy to ask when you actually want to do something with this sh*t :P
atmc
no practice there :(
hahah
FRIGN
^^
atmc
i need to learn more git
can i make my terminal caret transparent somehow?
FRIGN
??
Evil_Bob
atmc: it can only be orange
atmc
Oo
the pointer which moves when you type text
the dot
or caret
Evil_Bob
yeye, was joking :)
carrot joke
atmc
lol
FRIGN
^^
lool
caret hueheue
k0ga
what do you thing about the new gcc error style with caret symbols?
Evil_Bob
i dont mind it, but i hate the colors on by default
atmc
never seen them
Evil_Bob
atmc: its in gcc 5+ i think
only briefly used it on alpine, so dunno
k0ga
I hate they use 3 lines for something that was only 1 line
I can see only a few errors, while I could see all of them before caret errors
FRIGN
k0ga: real programmers see errors with their senses
they don't need fancy colors
:)
k0ga
yeah
FRIGN
https://www.fsf.org/blogs/community/who-actually-reads-the-code
this is retarded
I mean, the idea is good
but then he rot'ed the thing
and I bet most people didn't understand it
and didn't email him
totally defeating the purpose.
http://blog.annharter.com/2015/08/12/blinking-commits.html
Never. Do. That.
You have been warned
:P
I bet stateless would reenable -f and eradicate the commit should it ever come up blinking :P
Evil_Bob
FRIGN: it doesnt proof much (@ code read), but pretty cool
FRIGN
y
atmc
,am
heineken
best beer
Evil_Bob
nah far from it :)
atmc
whut
whats better
Evil_Bob
https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pauwel_Kwak for once
i should get that again, its really good
atmc
thats belgian
i may try that if the local has it
