retard

stateless
i have one record of them
which reminds me, gotta go vinyl shopping tomorrow
at the market
dpl
stateless: Hey thanks for the music, this is awesome
hi everyone
k0ga
hi
dpl
does sin hang out here sometime?
I met him recently and told me about you :)
stateless
I am sin
:P
k0ga
something bad I suppose
dpl
Hah!
I hope you remember me, we met at BSDCam
stateless
ah, the ipfw guy? :)
dpl
yup :D
stateless
hey :)
dpl
how's it going?
stateless
not bad, relaxing at home atm :)
dpl
I've been lurking for a while
good for you
I'm trying to learn how to use taskwarrior, complex stuff
stateless
I have a text file
echo foo >> TODO
in the past I had a directory called TODO
cd TODO; touch feed-the-cat
:P
dpl
That's always an option, but you have tags and projects and sh*t
stateless
yeah
dpl
This is something that could be solved easily with a fs though, a la plan9
stateless
yeah
dpl
You know, I proposed to work in making /net in FreeBSD a reality, but they didn't like it :(
stateless
I remember reading in 4.4 BSD or the FreeBSD book how network interfaces do not really map well to the filesystem
but I never quite understood it :>
well ioctls are evil
:P
dpl
we could also have ioctlsfs xD
stateless
dpl, did you see the freebsd/launchd article?
dpl
yes
but I haven't read it yet
stateless
cool, quasinoxen in this room wrote it
dpl
awesome
stateless
dpl, you could have a _ctl suffix and be done with it
quasinoxen
Thank you for the shout-out.
stateless
hey quasinoxen
:P
quasinoxen
I have yet to receive a response by anyone.
Only insults, deflecting and red herrings.
This does not inspire confidence for the NextBSD project.
stateless
I think it was well written, I am not familiar with NextBSD or launchd or systemd or any of that
quasinoxen
You're not familiar with systemd?
I wish I was you.
dpl
quasinoxen: If this is the one... https://lobste.rs/s/deowci/why_freebsd_should_not_adopt_launchd there have been 2 answers
stateless
quasinoxen, I've only used it once on a server 3-4 years ago
dpl
quasinoxen: I'm not familiar too
quasinoxen
I'm the former uselessd guy, so I painfully am.
stateless
yes
I am familiar with sinit!
quasinoxen
Though, as of recent, I have been only following systemd very casually.
stateless
:P
quasinoxen
I essentially decided that I no longer care what they do.
stateless
I've had dinner with lennart though
with other people, not just the two of us
at some ELC
:P
quasinoxen
It's some of the little things about systemd that are out of place.
System presets are a pointless activity for what should just be an ordering policy.
Unit drop-ins are so selective. systemd has no way to modify service properties at runtime except for the weird drop-in API that partitions cgroups and is limited only to cgroupfs settings.
Job states are a landmine, getting stuck in a dependency loop is no fun.
stateless
did you see the su replacement or what not?
I think my idea of a login session is wildly different to lennart's
lol
k0ga
stateless: what are about the bugs you found in scc?
stateless
k0ga, speak to my secretary
k0ga
I have curiosity (but I know there are millions of them ;)
stateless
I am out of office atm
quasinoxen
well
that wasn't really a su(1) replacement in any sense
k0ga
stateless: you mean __20h__?
xD
stateless
k0ga, yes
quasinoxen
it's a link to the session management facilities of logind
stateless
right
quasinoxen
Lennart is being overtly snide, as always.
openfbtd
Presets are pretty cool... in the context of systemd. But the whole thing is bad
stateless
k0ga, is mpu's backend going to be a separate repo or is it basically going to replace cc2 in scc?
openfbtd
It's a set of solutions to sh*tty practices
Sure, it solves problems... that can be avoided altogether
Most of the time
k0ga
stateless: the idea is that mpu backend will replace cc2
