if it fails to close one of them, the error is not propagated though..
:P
Evil_Bob
hmm it sounds broken :P
say you open 2 fd's and then close(3); closefrom(3);
hmm nvm

Evil_Bob
blackbit: ah thanks man! i will apply it

Evil_Bob: great that you could use it. it just realized that the commit message was truncated&
Evil_Bob: i guess that should look somehow different http://git.codemadness.nl/sfeed/about/
Evil_Bob
yeah, im aware of it, the README is in plain text, need to change it in cgit at some point
blackbit: btw do you use sfeed daily etc, just curious, i dont know many people using my projects :)
blackbit
yeah, i guess not too many people use it, otherwise that bug would have surfaced earlier&
i definitely would use it as my only feed reader if there would be some kind of frontend/wrapper that steers a bit in the direction of ttrss. but i guess that would be only possible to implement in a way that kind of sucks
Evil_Bob
yeah, i mostly use openbsd and alpine (musl has strlcpy, strlcat)
yea if its web-based it needs some way to communicate the feeds read as marked etc
blackbit
both are very nice. unfortunately my needs currently don't allow that
yeah, that would imply js hell or something
Evil_Bob: let's do AJAX!!1!
Evil_Bob
i could build it, i actually do webdev (among others) stuff as my job
but i dont need it myself and it would be kinda crappy :)
blackbit
well& i would use it :)
Evil_Bob
btw: http://www.codemadness.nl/downloads/screenshots/sfeed_mbox_mutt.png
:P
blackbit
i belive other people would too. suckless software undoubtly has a broad userbase. sfeed just lacks a tiny bit of usabilty to be an every day feedreader
yeah, the way through email or nntp makes sense
Evil_Bob
yeah i understand what you mean
blackbit
unfortunately there are no usable news readers&
Evil_Bob
i suppose the main problem is not marking items in feeds as read everywhere, on the other hand i personally really like the design of custom formatters
blackbit
i personally know about 10 people who use ttrss and think it's crap because it's too bloated. there is just no good alternative
Evil_Bob
so i can use it in dmenu, firefox, lynx, mutt, etc
if you have ideas how to implement it cleanly im open for it
blackbit
(un)fortunately i have no clue about 'modern' web technologies
Evil_Bob
making a small interface to interact with sfeed_frames would be trivial, i dont want to implement a whole interface in javascript, CSS, HTML etc though :)
blackbit
sure
well, you know, that 'small interface' would be better than nothing. maybe someone picks up and does the rest&
then again, maybe that's just a wet dream. there are so many cool projects out there where nobody contributes
Evil_Bob
hmm i'll think about it, it would probably be a separate repo though
blackbit: which format scripts do you use atm?
blackbit
well, i play with all of them when i find the time. for me sfeed was a 'relief' when i found it. thanks so much for taking the effort to write it!
Evil_Bob
thanks, well lemme know your thoughts :)
btw i also wrote small twitter scraper the other day: http://git.codemadness.nl/tscrape/
just an experiment though and the code is still rough
/exec -win curl -s 'https://twitter.com/richfelker/with_replies' | tscrape 2>/dev/null | head -n 2
blackbit
nice
there is also https://twitrss.me/
to be honest i use bitlbee for twitter. it's just too convenient
