stateless: my first linux distribution was a slackware in the year 1997
but my first unix contacts was with sunos in 1995
s/was/were/
but I switched fast to debian in 1999, mainly because it was the distribution all my friends used
stateless
k0ga, I was using both linux and windows until 2003-2004
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLDYtH1RH-U
.......
k0ga
I used both untill 2002
stateless
k0ga, last time I went to Greece, a few months ago, I booted my machine from 99 with the same Slackware installation
but there was no vga output
:(
I resitted the card, still no output
__20h__
My way was: MS-DOS -> Win 3.11 -> Win 95 -> NetBSD -> Plan 9 -> Debian -> Arch -> Gentoo
stateless
if you do not count game consoles
mine was
dos -> 3.11 -> win 95 -> win 98 -> slackware (and some other distros in between, don't remember the order) -> freebsd -> openbsd
some overlap with win xp too during the linux period
in the beginning
__20h__
stateless, you are retarding.
OpenBSD is only for mantrain.
stateless
lol
__20h__, did you love the helicopter game in 3.11?
:P
__20h__
I never liked the OpenBSD guys because they all seemed incompetent while pretending to promote security.
stateless, I played bomber man all the time until I got into Maxis and all of their games.
k0ga
basic -> msx-dos -> dos -> win 3.11 -> win 95 -> slackware -> debian -> openbsd -> netbsd | plan9
my first program was a program in basic
which only had REM lines xD
everything was: if you want to see x print LIST y
xD
stateless
__20h__, it is not only about security, just look at the code of all the projects that were initiated and developed as part of OpenBSD like ntpd, bgpd, spamd, smtpd, httpd, relayd etc.
__20h__
I can't remember my first program, but I forgot the name of my first girlfriend too.
stateless
the quality is much much higher than anything GNU produces
__20h__
stateless, yes, you are in the propaganda.
But look at the smelling beards working for OpenBSD. I don't want to be associated with them.
Add some more soap to OpenBSD.
stateless
__20h__, they do not have beards
and pf is the best firewall
go back to your ipchains
__20h__
stateless, they had back when I could switch to OpenBSD.
stateless, you have feelings about OpenBSD.
You've already lost.
stateless
__20h__, I am not opposed to any better system, maybe I will start working on linux after I sit down to fix stali
__20h__
You have feelings, which is wrong.
Only suckless should provoke feelings in your heart.
Suckless should be the center of your life.
k0ga
I agree that the quality is better than GNU, but this is something you can apply to everyelse in the unix world
stateless
__20h__, the only thing I care about is to spend as little time as possible learning and fixing a new system
k0ga
the GNU quality is the worst
stateless
k0ga, yes I was going to continue the comparison with other systems :P
k0ga
after GNU was is the next?
stateless
k0ga, windows
:P
even freebsd sucks balls
I still kinda like netbsd though
it panics when I boot it on my laptop in the keyboard driver
and when you enter ddb, every keystroke panics the system and enters ddb
:P
__20h__
stateless, your goals are flawed.
tm512
hi
__20h__
It's about the singularity and not your laziness.
tm512, greetings.
k0ga, systemd is worse.
And all the desktop crap and web crap like node.js.
The APIs are ugly, resources are wasted without any guilt.
So yes, there is something worse than GNU: the Web.
k0ga
this is missed field
stateless
__20h__, well I want to spend my time only on projects I care about, i.e. not struggling with quagga's config file or bugs when I can use bgpd :P
__20h__
stateless, you get lazy in your head and soon have a boring life.
Only suckless can lead you to enlightenment.
stateless
:P
k0ga
stateless: don't worry, he needs a girlfriend to understand you xD
Evil_Bob
stateless: preach brotha! :)
openbsd rocks
stateless: https://lobste.rs/s/cz6kxt/systembsd_custom_dbus_daemons_emulating_systemd_behavior_on_openbsd
stateless
Evil_Bob, yo hide the power!
100 Kbytes allocated to network (837% in use)
hm sth looks wrong :P
Evil_Bob
lool :D
awhile ago i had -2% disk space in usage (OpenBSD)
stateless
that's normal though
Evil_Bob, http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq14.html#NegSpace
Evil_Bob
ah thanks, i think its similar in Linux, not sure
iirc it can have "out of disk space" when you have 2% or w/e left (for the same reason), just not "negative"
