I'm assuming you are using the console to create the new user?
kevev
Yes
I would be sad if it never worked.
mreynolds I did exactly as the tutorial says and the inetUser attribute is not added to new users.
mreynolds
can you send me the link to the tutorial?
kevev
http://www.port389.org/docs/389ds/howto/howto-default-console-object-objectclass.html
I restarted dirsrv & dirsrv-admin and I get an error about my new attribute. I think the restart made it work.
Trying another attribute now.
mreynolds
yeah doesn't work me - I restarted the admin server, but the same result
kevev
It worked!
No need to restart dirsrv nor dirsrv-admin. I only had to re-open the console app. :D
Can the tutorial page be updated? Or is it there and I missed something??
mreynolds
yup, that worked for me as well
I will update the wiki right now
kevev
mreynolds: Awesome! Thank You for helping me.

kevev: np

Another question...Is it possible to have a group entry added to ldap when the user is created?
We have another ou that is only for groups. AIX is a big baby and it only likes separate group entries. Linux is fine if the user entry has posixgroup attribute with the gid in the user.
That didn't make sense. Let me try again...
We have a User ou and a Group ou.
AIX on the other hand is not that bright. It only looks for the uid in the ldap uid entry. We have to create another name matched cn entry under the Group ou with the posixgroup attribute.
So I was wondering if it is possible to have the group cn created automatically when the uid entry is created.
richm
automember
kevev
richm: how does that work?

kevev
Thanks. Fedora servers seem to be down at the moment.
It does not create a group for the new entry.

:D
richm
ah yes, managed entries - sorry
kevev
richm: This is going to be sweet. Our admins have so much trouble adding and configuring users. This will help tons.
I love LDAP.
CrunkOps
@richm, is upgrading from 1.2.9.9 to 1.2.11.31(latest?) as painless as running 'yum update'? if I have replicatiion partners, is there a specific order?
richm
CrunkOps: I can't remember - it should work
CrunkOps: there is no specific order
