yuriks: You can if they sign a contributor agreement
linkmauve1
valentin_ZNC, but then you will get a lot less potential contributions.
valentin_ZNC
linkmauve1: It depends on the size of your project
linkmauve1
Sure. ^^

Does 3dslink let me set argv?
for args other than argv[0]?
...does the 3DS have problems with division? Like, randomly crashing on divisions that aren't even div0?
Lectem
shouldnt be the case
endrift
I'm getting another nonsense crash :/
Lectem
stack corruption
99% of your problems if not buffer overflow :p
endrift
I kinda doubt it
ugh okay it works fine in Ninjhax 1.1b but crashes in Ironhax
and crashes in Ninjhax 2.1 beta as well
what can I even do about that
I think I hit the code size cap
yuriks: I fixed the FSDIR issue I was having, so I managed to decrease my code size a lot by using that instead of newlib
shaved off 40kB now and I'm not teetering on the brink quite as much anymore
still need to shave more off though
yuriks
endrift: how large is it right now?
endrift
the binary is ~690kB
code size, not sure
yuriks
I'm guessing the CPU tables take up a lot
endrift
yes
ughh okay so screwing with __system_allocateHeaps doesn't seem to be doing anything
I don't think it's getting linked in properly
yeah looks like it was a linker bug
https://twitter.com/endrift/status/636788497202872320 oops
dang
building devkitpro from source is super easy
now I have like twenty bazillion patches to file against the libs
https://github.com/smealum/ctrulib/pull/157 the most pointless PR ever that will maybe satisfy one person ever
but that person is me!
this was the easy one to send a PR for. I don't really feel like doing the others
ABigDeal
endrift: your comment says instead of, but your commit has it piping into tar still just with different arguments to tar
and shouldn't it be xjf for bzip2
oh, comment is different method than commit. you comment xjf
linkmauve1
endrift, actually, I already made a PR to fix that: https://github.com/smealum/ctrulib/pull/153 :p
Five days ago. :p
Because why create an archive before unarchiving it to install what you want?
newCodingGeek
hello autodesk software users
I'm looking for a room in which i can ask questions specific to maya.
Might you know where i might find that?
Lectem
this is a channel for nitnendo 3ds
not 3dsmax :p
newCodingGeek
ah
Thats really& misleading
my bad
dankon
endrift
linkmauve1: it's worth noting that *every* lib[platform] in devkitARM does this
I blame WinterMute
sgowen
Hey guys, finally finished porting a first version of my Sci-Fi Tower Defense game to 3DS, check it out when you get a chance: https://github.com/GowenGameDevOpenSource/insectoid-defense/releases/download/v1.0/insectoid-defense.zip
linkmauve1
sgowen, if you dont force-redefine the DEVKITPRO, DEVKITARM and AEMSTRO variables, the Makefile will pick them from the environment.
sgowen
On my Mac, that doesn't seem to be the case
linkmauve1
endrift, oh wow&
sgowen
added it to my bash_profile and rebooted, no dice
linkmauve1
sgowen, exported them correctly?
sgowen
yep
are you on a mac as well?
linkmauve1
No, Im on ArchLinux.
sgowen
in Terminal, if I type env, all my global variables display as they should
but my Makefile can't see them, which is a shame... I hate things like this in a source controlled project
linkmauve1
The devkitarm and ctrulib packages install the required files system-wide in /etc/profile.d
sgowen
hmmmm... this is gonna bother me now...
Lioncash
sgowen: Why do you put stdlib includes in extern c blocks?
sgowen
i have no idea, where?
Lioncash
https://github.com/GowenGameDevOpenSource/insectoid-defense/blob/master/src/platform/3ds/insectoid-defense/source/SaveData.cpp#L15
sgowen
haha, whoops
linkmauve1
sgowen, wow, your 3dsx file is 16 MiB. oO
It also lacks a LUNATIC difficulty. :3
sgowen
Yeah... I used the exported c files from gimp for my texture sheets >.<
hahhahahaha
I've been told that level 3 on HARD stumps everyone
linkmauve1
Its trying to open a lot of .raw files in /content
sgowen
sounds
linkmauve1
This is a very common name you shouldnt use, content, especially at the root of the microSD.
sgowen
yeah, game has like... 14 sounds or something
I'm definitely open to suggestions!
but yeah, its not at the root
Dazzozo
use the new romfs stuff ;D
(you cant yet)
sgowen
its inside the insectoid-defense/content folder
romfs??
is this a lib someone awesome is writing?
Dazzozo
https://github.com/smealum/ctrulib/commit/570ea2ebd219e32e83d8e5731768e1e5d42e67b5
linkmauve1
I think some triangles you are drawing are wrong, btw.
sgowen
which ones?
and yeah, I would love to be able to embed all of the sound data inside the executable itself
linkmauve1
Eww.
Please dont do that.
Dazzozo
soon™
sgowen
bad idea?
Dazzozo
using it currently requires an unreleased version of 3dsxtool (if you're talking about the romfs stuff)
embedding in the executable itself is a bad idea, romfs is a good idea though
linkmauve1
Dazzozo, but thats a very bad way to do it, this is not a 3DS cartridge so its possible to do much better. :/
sgowen
Dazzozo, when do we expect a release?
linkmauve1
Dazzozo, its pretty much the same, just in a different section.
sgowen
linkmauve1, true, but I don't like the fact that the sounds can become corrupted or swapped out entirely
Dazzozo
sgowen: idk, the ctrulib stuff just went live, so, hopefully soon
linkmauve1
Being swapped out is a good thing, isnt it? ^^
