Lectem
ow sh*t
the dreamcast has a 200MHz processor?
D=
StapleButter
hey, it's almost as powerful as a 3DS!
:D
Lectem
yeah
thats way more than the genesis
I thought for a sec, why not a dreamcast emulator on 3ds
then I saw the specs
ahah
endrift
you realize there was a console between the genesis and the dreamcast right
I have one right here if you want photographic proof :P
Lectem
saturn?
Subv
Lectem: inb4 an add instruction was 16 cycles :P
endrift
yep
I have a Saturn
Lectem
its only 28,6
far from 200
x)
Subv> Lectem: inb4 an add instruction was 16 cycles :p <- you mean to emulate it?
Subv
i meant on the real console
endrift
I wonder how inefficient SH4 was
Lectem
oh
Subv
great advances in cpu architecture have been made since the Dreamcast was a thing
endrift
SH4 is the CPU in the Dreamcast, in case that wasn't obvious
Lectem
well, the reicast emulator requires some 1Ghz
x)
Subv
u w0t

You'll need a pretty nippy device to make the most out of this emulator. While the developer of Reicast says a 1GHz CPU is required to run its emulator, we found that phones with quad-core processors are best suited to the 'task'.
Subv
hmm, that's interesting, considering he should be able to use a JIT on android
endrift
I know a JIT is used too
Subv
o.O it must be a pretty demanding/full-o'-quirks console
endrift
probably
recall that it's the same generation as the GameCube and the PS2
Lectem
I would have enjoyed shenmue2 on 3ds
x)
Subv
(Action) now feels like buying a TI programmable calculator, and writing an emulator for it on the 3DS
endrift
it's just Z80
Subv
oh
(Action) has never owned one of those calculators
nopy
So couldn't you adapt a Gameboy Emulator? XD
endrift
GB isn't Z80
despite what everyone tells you
nopy
Closely related
endrift
well yeah
nopy
But not pure z80
Subv
isn't it an extension of the Ziloc?
endrift
but so is the i8080
it's halfway between Z80 and i8080
also it's Zilog
Subv
:)
nopy
The gameboy is kind of a nerfed z80. they cut parts out so that it could be more energy efficient, and just because.
endrift
there are plenty of Z80 emus out there though
I know there are already TI-83+ emus
nopy
But there are infinitely more gameboy emulators on the 3DS than there are Z80 emus XD
endrift
well...sure
nopy
And there's also the small point of getting a firmware dump
endrift
yep
nopy
%^)
endrift
it's the picasso emote!
nopy
Yep!
I love it XD
But it's more of a killing blow :3
Joostin
hi
endrift
is it possible to install an exception handler on 9.2?
with either ninjhax 1 or 2?
xyz
sure with kernel access it's possible however I don't think anybody developed anything like it (I'm only aware of exception handler for arm9, it's a part of rxtools or a rxtools fork)
endrift
hmm
alternatively, can I get Citra to have a memory watchpoint and a working symbol table
(I don't believe it is right now)
xyz
what are you trying to do?
endrift
debug a crash in mGBA
it takes 2-5 minutes to trigger on hardware
11 in citra
it seems to be incrementing a 4 byte value, then doing reads and writes
and trailing off forever
noooo idea where though
xyz
try asking in the other 3dadev, I'm sure some people there have a debugging setup on their 3ds and can give you crash address
endrift
but efnet :(
xyz
I think yellows8 has it set up, not too sure though
endrift
I can ask tomorrow, but I need to sleep tonight
it's in blip
I KNEW it was in blip
I thought I was clearing the queue though
I ONLY CLEARED THE LEFT ONE
sigh
so I guess the bug was indeed what my speculative fix was supposed to cover
but my speculative fix was wrong
Is there a way to access the gyroscope from homebrew?
oh of course it's in the hid.h file
why didn't I look there first
is it just me, or is the gyro really laggy, and also the data not uniform?
oh, it's ctrulib being broken
ok
ABigDeal
in what way? is if fixable?
*is it
pauldachz
Anything's fixable in software, you just need to mash your face against it for a few hours/days/weeks/decades.
ABigDeal
you're telling me. working on an APT issue right now
re'd userland app, and service module code so far. now to re the actual lib to see where that part is failing
