yuriks
wonder what that's for
installing FIRM updates?
endrift
does the NAND have a proper filesystem/
yuriks
FAT
and a mixture of a CCI and a MBR partition table or something as a container
endrift
so I did a silly thing
to try to recover my Mii Plaza data
I wasn't expecting to work but I might be on an NNID sh*tlist now
When I transferred my O3DS data to my N3DS, I used the system transfer in an EmuNAND
thus it didn't wipe the base system
so I just remade the EmuNAND, updated it to 10.0
and tried to download the Mii Plaza data with that
it said my NNID isn't usable on that device though
I suspect even if I had been able to download it, the keys would be wrong

:(
tbf this username is only 4 years old
yuriks
hehe, kinda hard to have the account be older than that then
endrift
false!
yuriks
it's ok, not everyone can be such a huge nerd as myself
endrift
This was registered as jpfau not endrift
I changed it later
yuriks
oh
endrift
I have a ~7yo account on another network
everywhere else is going to be younger though
even though I've been on IRC for >=13 years
FireFly
Mine is six years old on Freenode, but my Quakenet account was a fair bit older than that before it got dropped
(Action) wishes he'd started programming and stuff earlier on, and hung out on more interesting networks instead of Q-net

vaguerant: Do the retroarch emus have no option to disable scaling? It looks horrible. I can't imagine anyone wants to play anything like this.
vaguerant
Correct, they haven't bothered hooking up scaling yet so everything's awful bilinear fullscreen.
profi200
It looks like complete crap.
vaguerant
Yep. I've messed with it as far as checking out performance but to hell with playing games like that.
aliaspider
don't use it then :P
vaguerant
aliaspider, don't get me wrong, it's great work and I plan on using it once it's more done than it is currently.
aliaspider
:) It wasn't meant to be used in its current state anyway..
hmm, I'm having a weird issue, using the same elf, a globally declared variable works correctly from a cia install but has an address = 0 when run as a 3dsx from ninjhax, as if it wasn't linked at runtime.
is there a limit in 3dsx files on global symbols ? or something similar ?
yuriks
there's a size limit depending on the exploit
iirc some 3dsxtool versions have bugs, but I'm not sure on the details
profi200
The newest 3dsxtool is fine.
yuriks
aka, not the one that ships with dkA
aliaspider
ah im using the one from dkA, ill try that thanks
hmm didn't work, must be a size limit then :/
yuriks
Power button: most used button on my 3DS
sometimes I have to hold it a while, release then hold it again for it to actually turn off
wonder why
if I just hold it once forever it never turns off
but then just pressing it the first time doesn't work, I have to actually hold it for a bit
vaguerant
yuriks, really? I've never had the hold, release, hold experience.
If the screen is still up then I can tell when it's finally shutting down when the screen cuts, then I can release but it will still take a few seconds before it powers off.
profi200
yuriks: What vaguerant said. Sometimes however this doesn't work if a kernelpanic happens. But it's still enough to hold it for 3 seconds. The screen just doesn't turn off in this case.
endrift: Well, this is weird. Since i updated to 10.0 i had no freeze at all. I still use that older build where i changed the sound from looping to one shot.
endrift
profi200: that's what everyone's been saying
profi200
That's strange.
This time Nintendos usual update message is true i guess lol
endrift
I've been making that joke
so I tweaked makerom's exheader generation to see if it affected N3DS CIA speeds at all and I still don't think anyone's tested the build ;_;
https://twitter.com/endrift/status/642461792770265088
profi200
What did you change exactly?
endrift
I increased the CpuAffinity and IdealCpu limits from 1 to 3 and added an option to set bit 13 in the flags section
then used those in my rsf
profi200
What is flag 13 for?
endrift
"allow access to CPU 2"
according to 3dbrew
profi200
Ah.
Let's see. Would need to downgrade.
endrift
That sounds...frustrating to do
and presumably impossible without NAND access
profi200
Did you test your CIA building environment?
endrift
er?
I made sure the CIAs still built and ran yes
profi200
Ok.
endrift
The changes I made are only in accordance with what I read on 3dbrew
so I'd imagine they can't break things
but who knows
that's basically why I want someone to test it on an N3DS
to make sure I didn't break anything and hopefully I might have fixed things?
anyway I haven't heard of anyone testing it yet
even on gbatemp, where they've been talking about yuriks' fix-not-fix
profi200
Which title ID did you choose? Not that it conflicts with something.
endrift
0x1A1E I think, arbitrarily
I realize now I should have made it much higher
well, by
"now" I mean "sometime yesterday"
profi200
I use that range: https://github.com/profi200/sysUpdater/blob/master/app/build-cia.rsf#L14
That will guaranteed not conflict with retail titles.
endrift
you can increase it over 0xFFFF?
I wasn't sure what the cap was or the intent of that ID when I made my CIA
I know now
since I spent like 11 hours trying to salvage my SD card data
profi200
Yes.
http://3dbrew.org/wiki/Title_list
Under unique ID.
endrift
aha
so you can presumably set it really high and it will never conflict because they'll never get to that many titles
profi200
Tried that mGBA build. It boots and runs fine but is still as slow as on old 3DS.
endrift
dang
profi200
No one knows what causes the speed boost.
endrift
yeah I know
it was just a hunch
