(That should explain why.)
...so? Any comments?
charlie5
hi Shark8 ... can you repost link ?
Shark8
Sure.
Let me make sure the IP's the same though.
(My ISP doesn't give me a static IP.)
charlie5

Shark8
ok
charlie5
vids are still d/l'ing
Shark8
I'll bet, they were a couple hundred MB before compression.
charlie5
ugh, another reboot
ghost_runner
Ada is the greatest language of all-time.
charlie5
nice of him to say so
:)
saison
hows this for a small world.. I just recently started tinkering around with Ada, turns out there is a company offering Ada training just down the street
charlie5
heh, nice and convenient
saison
charlie5: especially considering i live in adelaide australia :)
charlie5
very nice ... what is the company ?
(Action) is in .au
saison
http://dedicatedsystems.com.au/training/ada-for-cc-developers/
no mention of price.. i emailed them. see how we go
charlie5
looks pretty good ... yeah, price might be largish ... hope not
saison
it would be tax deductable I believe, but yea.. see what they say
charlie5
a little far for me to commute tho (northern NSW) ... :)
saison
charlie5: nice area, i lived in sydney for ages
charlie5
i liked sydney for the time i was there (about 5 years)
i think the rent would scare me off nowadays
saison
yes it scared me off to adl!
charlie5
median home price has topped the $1mill mark, i heard
adelaide is pretty big in defence area isn't it ?
subs and such
saison
I think so. I think it's died down a bit now. Maybe thats why this company uses ada.
charlie5
not sure if they still use any ada or not
sparre
Shark8: Thanks.

marble_visions
amen, code is a liability
charlie5
Shark8: the audio in one of the vids sounds a bit funny
BBVid3, i think
?!
- use type openGL.remote_Model.item'Class;
+ use type openGL.remote_Model.item;
package model_Vectors is new ada.containers.indefinite_Vectors (Positive, openGL.remote_Model.item'Class);
i had to make that change after updating to new gcc
it looks, ummm, wrong !
the use type is so it can find the "=" operator for openGL.remote_Model.item'Class
(Action) could also be, ummm, wrong !

marble_visions
Lucretia: is that GPS in the video?
Lucretia
yup
marble_visions
nice demo
Lucretia
ta
modular types was one of the things I was gonna put in my car physics demo anyway, so thought i'd stick with that
source on github
it's a cool feature but modular enums would be just as cool :D
marble_visions
what? so you can't cycle enums the same way ATM?
Lucretia
nope
would be good if you could
Visaoni
can see why you wouldn't want it sometimes though, so you'd have to find some way to control it
marble_visions
are ada standard releases planned or do they just happen?
83,95,05,12..?
Lucretia
Visaoni: type X is mod (one, two three)
Visaoni: type X is (one, two three)
marble_visions: I think, kind of planned and always late
hence the X
Visaoni
that's not a bad idea
actually
Lucretia
Ada9X was Ada95
marble_visions
right.
Lucretia
now, if you had internationalised 'images (possible with application catalogues), you could also use 'image for all your application needs as well
marble_visions: and the latest is Ada 202X
but that's prolly taking it too far :D
marble_visions
so... no more than 15 years til the next standard? :D
Lucretia
dunno
one of the reasons I was thinking about modular enums, is in my car physics demo (that isn't yet) I'm wanting to have a "select a car" thing I could use an enum and then use image to get the car name to print on screen - but the image is kind of useless in that context, especially if you make it into a proper game and add different languages n stuff,
marble_visions
a bit of an overkill probably, but can you get (and implement) iterators over enum types?
Lucretia
like it was mentioned, you could do it witha generic.
you could iterate over the range, but you'd need the wrap around, see the generic
marble_visions: did you enter the comp?
marble_visions
Lucretia: no, I don't have much time.. i've got a ton of books i'd like to read, project euler, a project here that's taking the 9-5 slot..
Lucretia
ah
me neither
I finally whacked that together after fu*king it up for the nth time at 2345 hrs last night
marble_visions
we had to do a screencast for our third year projects.. and it was horrible
i was doing high speed sorting on FPGAs -- the project wasn't that flashy, everything was code and theory and benchmarks..
that experience put me off demoing stuff behind the PC for a long time :D
can you send me a link about this competition?
