what is not fast about it?
txomon|home
the GUI, I mostly move on keystrokes, but from time to time I want to be able to select, copy, move channel etc. with clicks =)
btw, have you started using py.test api instead of unittest?
jodal
yeah, I use py.test on all new tests
and py.test as the test runner for all tests
m-s2 has only py.test tests
dbrgn: haha, I just noticed you among the signatures on my gpg key. I guess we've met twice, both in berlin and bilbao ;-)
txomon|home
jodal, was there signing party=
?
btw, I am thinking on creating a pyflakes extension for the double quote / single quote thing
jodal
txomon|home: just in berlin
txomon|home: thus, I met dbrgn at the signing party in berlin and the sprints in bilbao
txomon|home
ohhh yeah I remember him from the signing party xD
dbrgn
jodal: haha, really? :)
jodal: that's why your seemed so familiar :D

adamcik
"MoPiDy is a fork of MPD" right, wonder if we'll ever get past that misunderstanding
txomon|fon
haha yeah
maybe we should change the name
xD
adamcik
we could instead just tone down mentions of MPD in the "marketing"
can't quite be bothered to create a reddit account just to "fight" the people that are wrong on the internet
trygveaa
i wondered if i should reply to him
jodal
I don't think the name is the problem... it's quite far between each time I hear someone say "aaah, it's MPD plus the vocals from 'spotify'"
please do. I don't have an account either
trygveaa
what does the name come from anyway?
jodal
MPD plus the vocals from spotify :P
knutsen came up with the name, iirc
trygveaa
ah, yes, so it is that
jodal
as you can see, the name was coined before the first commit to the repo
adamcik
and of course this is far from a fork :-)
jodal
hard to do a fork when you start out with an empty git repo
trygveaa
jodal: first commit seems to be just an empty readme file
but the name is in the second
jodal
mhm
trygveaa
there, commented
please tell me if I wrote something wrong, or if i should change something
adamcik
looks good to me, and to the point :-)
dz0ny
trygveaa: upvoted yours :)
btw if we start subreddit we can probably get flares for all devs
and support staff :)
jodal
dbrgn: have you had any time to finish the source field addition?
Freso
"MPD is more popular than MoPiDy, but MoPiDy is slightly faster." Huh. I always felt like it was the other way around.

trygveaa
i would be surprised if Mopidy is more popular than MPD
dz0ny
10¬ device with 1ghz/512mb/4gb sound driver
Freso
trygveaa: I meant for the speed. :)
trygveaa
yeah, that seemed weird to me as well
jodal
I was a bit surprised by the claim that mopidy is faster than mpd... I've never measured, but I seriously doubt it
trygveaa
but he says something about indexing in database vs. file
jodal
I mean... C++ and low-level-simple-focus vs Python and integrate-all-the-things-focus
mhm, mopidy-local-sqlite might beat mpd
Freso
Yeah.
trygveaa
is it really necessary to support two different indexing methods, or could we just go with mopidy-local-sqlite?
Freso
Support All The Things!
trygveaa
i was just thinking it may be easier/less confusing if mopidy-local and mopidy-local-sqlite merged
at least after mopidy-local is split out from mopidy
jodal
dz0ny: and armv7 \o/
adamcik
the plan" is to split mopidy-local out of mopidy
which opens up more options for things like merging them
adding mopidy-file(s) which does browsing means we don't "need" mopidy-local in core any more
jodal
"Best of all, CHIP runs mainline Linux, which means its easier than ever to keep teaching it new tricks without inheriting a pile of kernel patches." -- someone learned something from raspi
dz0ny
:D
well rpi is gpu with modest cpu attached on top of it
this is soc with cpu and separate gpu as a board
hm i wonder if there is low level access to wifi
jodal
and rpi's gpu still relies on a binary blob
dz0ny
is thinking about wifi p2p brodcasts
for multiroom audio
jodal
this is smaller, cheaper, powerfull enough, armhf-compatible, and has integrated wifi... if it only becomes easily available now, I see no reason why one should buy rpi2 instead of chip for e.g. mopidy
dz0ny
mhm
and gpio pins
perferct for my weather station :>
well overkill rly
:>
also 300mA seems nice for 1gHz
Freso
Haha. "Banana for size"
I guess they're imgurians.
dbrgn
jodal: right now I don't have too much time... :/ hopefully I'll still do it though in 1-2 weeks. you can also try to add fixes on top of my PR though.
9$ for the chip is pretty impressive.
especially when thinking that it has onboard wifi, and buying a wifi dongle usually costs between 10-20 bucks.
ahahahaha, chip costs 9$, the lipo battery 10$
adamcik
https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13678 - wifi is cheap these days
dz0ny: ^ is probably more what you want for a weather station
depending on what your sensors speak of course
dz0ny
mhm a have cortex-m3 board with eth an lua env and i2c sensors
but it's not funny
